Mistfall Hunter affix and gem guide

Understand why an affix target depends on the exact equipment roll, socket shape, and gem—not just the item name.

What is an affix target?

An affix target is the level a complete build should reach for a named effect. Gyldforge records targets as exact levels and adds contributions from compatible innate equipment rolls and socketed gems. This lets the planner answer a concrete question: can the selected equipment rules legally reach every requested level?

The catalog currently tracks 44 affixes and 312 gems imported from the attributed source data. Effects and limits can change with game updates, so verify important totals in game.

Innate rolls and socket rolls are different

An innate affix belongs to the recorded equipment variant. A socket is a position that can accept a compatible gem. When planning a build, count both sources, but do not treat them as freely interchangeable. Replacing an equipment variant may change its innate affix, socket layout, socket tiers, or eligibility for the selected class and weapon.

This distinction is why a simple shopping list is not enough. A reproducible recipe needs the exact equipment profile and the gem assigned to each socket.

Socket shape controls gem compatibility

Each recorded socket has a shape. A gem can only be assigned where its socket requirements match. A solver must therefore satisfy two constraints at once: the gem needs to contribute a useful affix, and it needs a legal place in the selected equipment layout.

When a desired gem cannot fit, the answer may be a different equipment roll rather than a different affix target. Gyldforge searches recorded profiles and assignments together so it does not place a useful gem into an incompatible socket.

Gem tier and equipment rarity are planning limits

The maximum gem tier tells the builder which gems it may use. Equipment rarity controls which recorded profiles may be selected. Higher limits can make difficult affix combinations possible, but they may also make the result harder or more expensive to source.

Start with constraints that reflect your actual inventory or budget. If the search fails, change one limit at a time. A lower target or different equipment roll may be more practical than increasing every limit.

How Gyldforge calculates a recipe

  1. Filter equipment profiles by class, weapon, slot, rarity, and jewelry preference.
  2. Read each profile's verified innate affix and ordered socket layout.
  3. Find compatible gems within the selected tier ceiling.
  4. Combine innate and gem contributions while checking every target level.
  5. Return a legal recipe, or explain that no matching combination was found under the current constraints.

The result is a planning aid based on the recorded catalog—not a promise that each item is currently listed in the Auction House. Confirm availability and the exact roll before buying.

A practical optimization order

Define the build's essential affixes first. Generate the simplest legal recipe within reachable rarity and tier limits. Then inspect open rolls and optional targets. This keeps the core build reproducible and prevents secondary preferences from blocking the entire search.

When comparing two legal recipes, consider availability and price as well as theoretical totals. Market snapshots age quickly; an item that was cheapest when captured may not be cheapest now.
